The Closing Concert of the 2nd Edition of the Festival de Música Portuscal celebrates the festival’s community, sharing the stage between teachers, artists, and participating students. This event highlights the talent of both groups and honors the students who performed at an exceptional level, coming from all corners of the world. The concert is made possible thanks to the generous support of the Municipality of Gondomar.
The program begins with a solo performance by pianist Elsa Silva, who presents a repertoire inspired by global rhythmic and sonic diversity, ranging from jazz-influenced melodies of the Americas, the vibrant rhythms of Brazil, to Spanish popular music.
This is followed by Lourenço Macedo Sampaio performing Prokofiev’s work inspired by Romeo and Juliet. The piece captures the full dramatic power and narrative intensity of Shakespeare’s tragedy, with themes that follow the story’s development, revealing why this composition is considered one of the most emblematic in both the musical and literary repertoire.
