REGULATIONS
The masterclasses of the Portuscal Music Festival are divided into two pedagogical categories:
Soloist Academy and Masterclass.
1. Soloist Academy
1.1 Application and Selection Process
1.1.1 The Soloist Academy is intended for students who demonstrate an advanced artistic and musical level.
1.1.2 Enrollment requires the submission of a video, via a YouTube link, with a piece of the participant’s choice.
1.1.3 The video must be recorded in a single take and have a minimum duration of 4 minutes.
1.1.4 The application form must be accompanied by the program to be presented and the submission of the accompaniment scores, in PDF format.
1.1.5 After submitting the application, students will be notified within one week regarding their admission to the Soloist Academy or a suggestion to register for the Masterclass.
1.1.6 Pre-formed chamber music groups may also register for the festival and will be entitled to a reduction in tuition fees per member, subject to the submission of a video under the same conditions as point 1.1.3.
1.1.7 Each member of the chamber music group must complete the application individually, subsequently mentioning the remaining members’ names and the group’s name in the designated areas of the form.
1.1.8 The number of places is limited.
1.1.9 Once a place is assigned, the participant has one week to make the payment and confirm their registration. After this period, the place will be made available to other applicants.

1.2 Lessons
1.2.1 Each student is entitled to two individual lessons, each lasting one hour.
1.2.2 Members of selected chamber music groups must also participate in the individual lessons and must submit in advance the group’s collective scores as well as the accompaniment scores, as indicated in point 1.1.4.
1.2.3 Professors reserve the right to select the students who will participate in the Festival’s closing concert.
1.2.4 Participants may attend all lessons throughout the festival.
1.2.5 Students selected for the Soloist Academy must also participate in the Chamber Music Workshop, entitling them to two group lessons.
1.3 Chamber Music Workshop
1.3.1 Participants who registered individually will be assigned to a chamber music group designated by the festival’s organization.
1.3.2 The chamber music groups will vary among different ensembles including the instruments of the Soloist Academy (violin, viola, cello, piano, and clarinet).
1.3.3 The workshop aims to encourage ensemble playing, deepen stylistic interpretation, promote artistic autonomy, and foster cooperation and team spirit.
1.3.4 It will also be a social initiative, where students will have the opportunity to meet colleagues and make music with them for the first time.
1.3.5 There will be a concert entirely dedicated to chamber music, in which groups selected by the professors will present the work developed throughout the festival.
1.3.6 The organization and assignment of chamber music groups, as well as the distribution of scores, will be completed by January 16th.
1.3.7 Individually registered participants must prepare the repertoire assigned for the workshop prior to the start of the festival.
2. Masterclass
2.1 The Masterclass is open to all students.
2.2 Enrollment will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis until all available places are filled.
2.3 Each participant is entitled to two individual lessons of 40 minutes each.
2.4 Proof of payment must be uploaded in the designated section of the application form for confirmation of registration.
2.5 Payment must be made by bank transfer to IBAN: PT50 0036 0073 9910 0065 73691
2.6 Participants may attend all lessons during the festival.
3. Spectators
3.1 Spectators may attend all lessons during the festival.
3.2 Registration is automatic and the number of places is unlimited.
3.3 Proof of payment must be uploaded in the designated section of the application form for confirmation of registration.

4. Concerts
4.1 All concerts are free admission.
4.2 The presence of all participants is highly recommended during the concerts of the Portuscal Music Festival.
4.3 Concerts will be held daily throughout the festival in various venues.
4.4 The closing concert will be dedicated exclusively to participants who demonstrate a high level of musical preparation during the festival.
5. Image
5.1 Each participant may record their own lesson for pedagogical and artistic purposes.
5.2 Audiovisual recording of other participants is not permitted without proper authorization.
5.3 The Portuscal Music Festival retains the rights to all audio and video recordings made during festival activities.
5.4 The Portuscal Music Festival reserves the right to publish images and sound recordings on its digital platforms exclusively related to festival activities.
5.5 Participants may use or publish images provided by the festival, provided that proper credit is given to the Festival and the photographer.
6. Information
6.1 The lesson schedules will be announced by February 9th.
6.2 The closure of registrations and available places will be announced on the official digital platforms of the Portuscal Music Festival.
6.3 Diplomas will be made available in digital format.
6.4 Brochures will be distributed throughout the festival.
6.5 In the event of withdrawal, the registration fee will only be refunded upon presentation of a medical certificate or equivalent justification.
7. Scholarships
7.1 Merit scholarships will be awarded to participants who demonstrate outstanding artistic spirit, dedication, and sense of sharing throughout the event.
7.2 The scholarship consists of a full refund of the registration fee and an invitation to participate in the program and concerts of future editions of the Portuscal Music Festival.
