Considered one of the most distinguished Portuguese pianists and composers of his generation, Pedro Emanuel Pereira is known for his deeply singular artistry and worldview.
As a soloist, he has given recitals in Barcelona, New York, and Amsterdam, and has performed with orchestras such as the Yerevan Opera Orchestra, Porto Casa da Música Orchestra, and Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra.
In collaboration with Carlos Ferreira, Principal Clarinet of the Orchestre National de France, he will embark on a major European tour as part of the ECHO Rising Stars program. With more than 20 concerts scheduled, they will perform in venues such as London’s Barbican Centre, Philharmonie de Paris, Elbphilharmonie and Laeiszhalle (Hamburg), Palau de la Música Catalana (Barcelona), Concertgebouw (Amsterdam), Musikverein (Vienna), among others.
Pedro Emanuel Pereira graduated from the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow under Vera Gornostaeva and completed postgraduate studies at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam with Naum Grubert, graduating with the highest distinction and the honor Cum Laude. During this period, he was a scholarship recipient of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation and the Jacques Vonk Foundation. He also studied orchestration and instrumentation with Mikhail Bogdanov and Artun Hoinic.
He has participated in numerous international piano and composition competitions, winning over 20 prizes worldwide. Notable awards include First Prizes at the Santa Cecília International Competition (Porto), Richard Vines International Competition (Lleida), San Sebastián International Competition (at just 16 years old), and the PianoVoce Competition for duos in Moscow.
