PROGRAM
> Brahms Cycle

21 February — 9:00 pm

Fundação Eng. António de Almeida

With the support of the Fundação Engenheiro António de Almeida, this concert is devoted to the major compositions of Johannes Brahms for violin and piano, as well as his chamber music for trio. The program is performed by internationally acclaimed artists, guiding the audience through some of the composer’s most emblematic works.

The cycle begins with the two first violin sonatas, performed by Afonso Fesch and Ana Beatriz Manzanilla, accompanied by pianist Isolda Crespi, in a dialogue that reveals the full spectacularity and expressiveness of these two instruments.

The concert culminates with the Trio for Clarinet, Cello, and Piano, one of Brahms’s final compositions and one of the rare works in which the clarinet takes a central role. Performed by Vítor Fernandes (clarinet), Benedict Kloeckner (cello), and Pedro Emanuel Pereira (piano), this trio offers the audience the opportunity to experience a true masterpiece, interpreted by some of the world’s finest performers on their respective instruments.
